AGENT BIO/HISTORY


Being a successful entrepreneur has been “in the cards” for Roger Sexton since early childhood. Roger endured the hardships of growing up with a single parent who often worked at three jobs, operating in a survival mode. Many times a frantic search through a sofa or pants pockets to find loose change was necessary to ferret lunch money or run to the grocery to put a meal on the table. An aunt and uncle provided clothes. Growing up in a suburban setting, Roger recognized a degree of deprivation and the difficulties for him and his mother. He realized he should initiate action to prompt his absentee father to fulfill his responsibilities. At the age of 14 Roger wrote to the then-President George H.W. Bush explaining how he and his mother had been neglected. It paid to go to the top for the President contacted Health and Human Services and consequently his father was made to contribute child support. Roger also sought to contribute to the household, and once again it was “in the cards”: this time it was baseball trading cards. At age 13 Roger launched a profitable baseball card business in his basement plus collateral activities out of his school locker. His card business in 1990 resulted in a considerable amount of money which helped with household expenses and the cost for activities that he wanted to participate in. By high school his business acumen resulted in his being singled out as the only student in his class permitted to spend less time in classes and work part of the day in a major Cincinnati law firm to explore law as a career (He dealt himself another winning hand!) and to take those first steps to complete acquisition of his law degree.

Since high school Roger has worked full time and engaged in an on-going marathon of formal education and personal study to build a broad base of liberal arts education and business skills. A law degree continues on track for completion by age 35.

In his early 20’s Roger explored computers as an essential component to the business realm. Over a five year period he engineered a large computer project for law enforcement worth in excess of $30 million. His new-found expertise enabled him to coordinate all the various aspects to facilitate the bidding and execution of the contract. Finally he acknowledged his uncle’s success in real estate and initiated the steps to become a REALTOR®.

Shadowing the works of his uncle who is one of the founders of Star One and has been in the real estate business for over thirty years, Roger successfully completed the course work to get his real estate license. Real estate has come a long way since its relatively simple process with a one or two-page contract to its current labyrinth and sophisticated procedures demanding extensive knowledge and numerous experts to guard against loopholes and complications. Just as it takes a village to raise a child, it requires an elite team to provide the expertise necessary to get the best results for a client. Roger has made it his practice to make himself a student and artist of his profession, but also to possess a willingness to bring together all the expert players to facilitate the best performance. In the past 18 months, Roger has completed over a 100 real estate transactions, from taking and selling listings to assisting buyers in the purchase of their dream home. Roger's repulsion of exclusivity inspired him to reach out to groups of people eager to become contributing members of society. His friendly, caring demeanor is more than a business attribute; it is a quality that any individual appreciates and enjoys for a better lifestyle.

Even Roger's business transactions serve as a type of community service. The $30+ million law enforcement/computer bid served 44 municipalities in Southern Ohio saving police officers an average of 2.5 hours per day, streamlining technology, and through "COPSMART" creating greater protection and assurance for public safety.
