Last spring his dream finally became a reality. Neal, who lives with his wife, Diann, and daughter, Kayla, in the Worthington Hills area, found his refuge in the form of a 3,800-square-foot, 4 bedroom cabin on three acres in the gated community of Hideaway Hills, at the southern edge of Fairfield County.
"It's exactly what I wanted," he says. "No grass, all woods, five lakes that are more about lake nature than lake recreation."
Neal says his family room use to be his refuge. Now he counts the week-day moments until he's back at Hideaway Hills, taking his three-mile walk with his English setter, Maya, firing up the wood stove and warming up the hot tub.
"I really enjoy it", he says. "I can jump on the freeway Friday and be here in no time. It's not like Candlewood Lake, in Morrow County, or Heron Bay or Apple Valley, where the emphasis is more on recreation. To me, those still feel a bit like suburban Columbus. Here, you're hidden away, surrounded by the woods. And if you want a bit of refinery, we're just minutes from two wonderful restaurants-Glenlaurel and the Inn at Cedar Falls. It has everything. And it's close. We go down virtually every week-end, which we couldn't do if we had a condo in Florida."
