Witness: Two people, knowing that the time had come to leave their loved abode of 45 years for a new life in a Retirement Community, but making no definite movement in that direction. Dread was the operative word; denial was the dominant emotion; inaction was the order of the day.

Then, on a quiet, seemingly uneventful September evening, a telephone call changed all that.

Mark Wilson of Find My Dream Home called to say that he had been in the neighborhood with a client who had pointed to our home, saying, "That's the one". Ever resourceful, Mark "happened to remember" the name of a neighbor. When asked about our situation, the neighbor encouraged Mark to call us, thinking that the time just might be "right"; hence, the phone call.

We were thunderstruck when Mark asked if he and his client could come over to look at our house with a view to buying it. At my protest that we had not prepared the house to be shown, he replied, "It doesn't matter; we just want to see the lay-out, the structure"...and he added a kind of throw-away line to the effect that "there seems to be something at work here."

Those words proved to be prophetic.

The visit, relaxed conversation, sensitivity, clearly stated parameters, meticulous information sharing, good-will and affability all combined to create an amazing process which seemed like a seamless robe. We felt hand-carried, start to finish. At each juncture when we conferred with our son and daughter-in-law (who is an experienced Realtor® in Atlanta), she exclaimed unbelievingly, "This just doesn't happen".

The last time, I answered, "I think it's God". Her quick reply was, "I do, too".

It was an efficient, rapid, well-choreographed transition, and we moved to our new home in January. All-in-all, we feel that we were "singled out for blessing" and we are very grateful. Mark was right! Something was at work here!

Thank you for being our "change agent".

I've enjoyed the diversity of home buyers I've helped to relocate ...from California, New York, Florida, and overseas Hungary, to across town Cary relocation ...Legal immigrants to Raleigh North Carolina natives ...large families and single Moms ...various religions, ethnicities, and socio-economic backgrounds ...I've developed friendships, and kept warm memories of these folks, all connected by their shared dream of American home ownership. Here are some of their stories, for which I'm grateful, in their own testimonial words...

My wife and I had talked for years about someday moving out of California. The over-priced housing market made that decision much easier. However, we were both born and raised in the Los Angeles area and were understandably anxious. After very thorough research, we decided Raleigh, North Carolina would be the best place for us, our 3 young boys and 2 dogs.

Not knowing anyone in that area, I decided to try to find a Realtor on the Internet. Mark's website appealed most to me, due mainly to the testimonials, the wealth of information and the helpful links. It also didn't hurt that he was a native of the area. I entered my search information and Mark contacted me that afternoon. I informed him we would be visiting soon for a week and would not be making a move out there for at least 1 year. I wouldn't have been surprised if he had told me to contact him again as our move time shortened. Instead, he treated me as though we were his most important client. He scheduled a time for my wife and I to meet him while we were there and even set up an appointment for us to meet with a loan adviser to answer any questions we might have at this point.

Meeting Mark assured me we had made the right decision. He was honest, very knowledgeable and seemed to really be interested in finding out what we wanted in a "dream home".

Over the next couple of months we communicated by phone and email and Mark kept a close eye on the home searches I ran while on his website. I shared with Mark how I really would like to purchase a home before we actually made the move out there. Mark assured me that finding the "right" home was what we needed to focus on. We scheduled a weekend to return to the area and met with Mark on a Saturday. I had emailed Mark ahead of time 12 properties we felt fit our desires and Mark scheduled viewings with all of them, plus one he thought we would like.

Coming from the Los Angeles area, where most of the homes are 50 + years old, we were like kids in a candy store with all the new homes. We pulled up to the first home and stepped out of the car, quite impressed. Mark's first question was, "Do you see what's wrong with this home?" Our obvious answer was, "No!" Mark pointed out that it backed up to a busy road, something we should consider having 3 young boys and 2 dogs. This was the first example of how Mark's expertise helped to notice things we might have otherwise missed.

Towards the end of the long day we had found a couple homes we thought were adequate, but not our ideal home. That was when Mark suggested we take a look at the home he had selected based on the searches I had been running and the discussions we had.

When we pulled into the neighborhood, we were excited, but cautiously optimistic. As we drove around our excitement grew. We pulled up to the home and walked in. Within a few seconds, my wife and I looked at each other and said, "This is the one!"

Mark proceeded to assist us greatly in our discussions with the builder, even helping us to secure a site we really wanted and asking the important questions we wouldn't have thought to ask.

Mark has continued to provide great assistance and friendship as we get closer to our move. We would highly recommend Mark to anyone interested in "finding their dream home". He sure found ours.

He's also a great resource for authentic North Carolina cuisine...remember that cafe?

Finding Mark came at a time when huge changes were occurring in my career. These changes meant leaving not only the Triad, which had been home for 31 years, but family, friends and so many other things I held dear. While Raleigh is not a huge distance away, it's far enough to feel the loss of the closeness and familiarity. Looking back, I can not imagine having worked with anyone else.

Mark's response to my inquiry via his website was immediate. Instead of only a brief "get to know you" initial conversation, he immediately shared a wealth of information about the area. I was floored he would spend so much time with me before either of us knew for sure we would be working together. The education and sharing continued throughout the following months as two offers on my previous home fell through and the market came to a near standstill. Mark's patience, kindness, compassion, sense of humor and numerous amazing stories helped me get through those frustrating times.

Eventually, all the puzzle pieces fell into place. I'm now settling into a beautiful town home in an amazing area and beginning a new chapter of my life. My hope is that Mark will continue to be a part of upcoming chapters...not only as an agent...but as a wonderful friend.

"To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and to endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

After eleven years in Eastern Europe it was time to move our four children and big dog home. Knowing that we had to find a house quickly after arriving in America, I spent many hours doing Raleigh Cary real estate research on the internet wanting to be as prepared as possible. I found that I kept going back to one web site:

FindMyDreamHome.com was user friendly and gave me the information I needed. I emailed Mark Wilson and received a prompt reply. He asked great questions and assured me that he would do his homework and be available to help us move quickly.

At our first meeting, we were impressed with his preparation. He continued to ask clarifying questions and then we began looking. During our search, we never felt pushed to make a decision. In fact, Mark encouraged us to reconsider purchasing one home because his comparable home market analysis indicated that it was over priced. He noticed other things about homes that we missed such as the fact that at one home, the headlights from traffic went directly into the dining room. The more we looked, the more he understood us and our family’s needs.

We had been out looking all day with him and had finished seeing everything that matched our criteria. We were a bit discouraged knowing that we had to make a decision because our shipment was arriving from Europe. Mark called at dinner time and said, “I found it!” It had just come on the market that afternoon. He made the appointment for us to see it that evening and we had a contract on it the next day. It was perfect.

The sellers were difficult to deal with, but we never had to deal with them. Mark did it all. He went above and beyond the call of duty in his efforts to help us. What could have been a very dismal ending became a very happy ending because of Mark’s diligence and hard work.

Would we use him again? We wouldn’t use anyone else.

How they searched the MLS for Cary homes for sale from Europe...

My Husband Ben and I met Mark Wilson, Principal Broker of the Find My Dream Home® real estate firm when we began the process of a 1031 Tax-Deferred Exchange of Like-Kind property from California into North Carolina. As Apex residents, we were considering rental investment property in the Raleigh area.

As a “civilian” investor, I had substantial experience with all of the many internet "MLS" look-alike websites available online. I often thought that real estate agents were only useful for getting me inside the house that I had already identified! Haven’t you sometimes felt that way?

Unfortunately, my experience with many other agents supported that. As a buyer, often I was the one trying to calculate the fair market value of a property I was interested in, determining what I should offer... doing my own research ... And not having a finger on the pulse of the current real estate market can make offers feel like little more than an "educated guess". In my previous home purchase transactions, I even scheduled inspection appointments, and checked with the various "responsible" parties to be certain that they carried out what they promised.

What a surprise Mark was!

Mark listened carefully to Ben and me over dinner, as we talked about life, age, children, and changes. He asked if perhaps this was the right time to own second homes in the North Carolina Blue Ridge Mountains, and on the North Carolina Coast, in the Wrightsville Beach, Carolina Beach, Myrtle Beach areas, and the Outer Banks, too. And he was right – that’s exactly what Ben and I had been thinking, and our meeting affirmed our feelings.

I’ll wager most agents would have busied themselves assembling a local rental portfolio. Mark was an honest agent willing to refer us outside his immediate region, at a cost of a huge commission to him, but in our best interests. He even followed up and made sure that I was satisfied with the service that the agent referral provided. His referral was good, but he is at a level above.

The biggest surprise came when I began observing Mark in action locally …explaining an offer package - verifying everything - providing all the supportive material and opinions. The level of detail and thoroughness I witnessed I had never experienced personally in all the many transactions in which Ben and I had participated as buyers and sellers. Mark provides relief and security for buyers and sellers throughout the process, bringing the terminology "complete service agent" a legitimate meaning.

There is a difference, and it is critically important for real estate investment transactions.

Well, it has been almost a month for us in Wake Forest! It is hard to express in an email how amazing this "Journey" has been for us.

I would just like to thank you once again for all of the hard work you invested in our relocation from California. I know that I will always remember the time I spent with you both on the phone and in your car looking at an overwhelming amount of homes, and finally finding this wonderful house that we are now beginning to call home.

Thank you for investing so much of yourself in my search for the "perfect" home. The team that you introduced me to and assisted me in this transistion are as amazing as you in their respective fields of expertise and I know that they made this experience as smooth as possible for me. I'll never forget the 9:00am call on the day of closing...

I sincerely hope that your dreams, hopes and needs come to fruition, as I don't remember coming across a more deserving man.

Mark, thank you for everything.

P.S. I would be honored if we could arrange a date that you could come over to our house and break bread with us. Think about and let us know what would work!

[Marks' note: Like many others during the epoch California real estate market downturn, Alex had the daunting challenge of solitary job relocation into our Research Triangle surplus. A true researcher/analyst, he traveled from Wake Forest to Fuquay Varina, Holly Springs to Clayton, to be certain of the right location and value for his family waiting anxiously back home ... Wake Forest brand new construction won. Great work and choice, Alex - I am really happy for you!]

You know, I actually made xerox copies of your card and carried it around to give out after you helped sell my other home at Harvest Mill! You sold one of my investment properties by 1031 Exchange in 14 days - then you sold another of my investment properties in Raleigh near North Carolina State University, and referred me to a Florida agent to sell two other family investment properties - both hugely successful transactions. Thanks!

As you can see, I am so happy you helped us sell our house in Raleigh. Now I'm back in Canada and can see my grand-parents much more often.

My parents keep talking about how quickly you sold our home. After the first meeting with you, they used big words like professional, well-prepared and focused. I also really like all the pictures and video you put on the Internet for us.

Every time I saw you or you spoke with my parents on the phone they were happier with the house selling process. They say you were very good at listening to their specific sales needs and explaining the details of the procedure. They were also very impressed in how you handled the fine points of the sale while we had already moved out of the country.

I know they have already recommended you to friends and say that you are the only person they would buy or sell a home with in Raleigh! Thanks again Mr. Mark for your precious assistance.

I was moving to Raleigh from New York and my time was limited.

Mark listened to me and showed me the homes that were right for me...a specific classic architectural style known as the "Atomic Ranch". He shared his insight and never wasted my time showing me houses that weren't a "fit."

I found the house that I wanted, but it was not on the market. Mark made a few calls, we met with the owners and we struck a deal. He guided both seller and buyer through the process flawlessly.

I am thrilled with my new home and would recommend Mark Wilson to anyone looking to buy or sell a home.

WOW! You are incredible...Add one more HUGE "we owe you" to the ledger!

We are most impressed with your interest and due diligence. Can you tell us how much fixing up will be required, and help us get the local Lowes...or some other countertop place to spring into action? We can give you our suggestions, and have you help make final decisions on the flooring. Thank you so much for taking care of all of this.

You are our hero! We cannot thank you enough for all you have done to help us get this ready to go. Virtual Tour and shutters look great, Mark. Much appreciated! We are way beyond thank you! We will have to figure out a way to compensate you above and beyond your commission. We are so sorry that so much of this has been dropped on you. So, please start thinking about how we can help out. Do we need to send you on a vacation to New Zealand or some other exotic locale...? If you would like some major endorsement on your web site, please let us know...also for any brochures you may print in the future.

Thanks so much for going the extra mile on this. We promise that when it comes time to sell our Cary units (we have a duplex and a triplex) you will get that business. We appreciate your very hard work and effort you have gone to on our behalf in helping us get this unit ready to be shown on the market and the follow-up. This has got to be one of the more challenging events we have all had to deal with, and we are truly grateful.

Sure appreciate your help and your patience.
Thanks for hanging in there with us.

Mark Wilson is our real estate "Superhero"! My husband and I have lived in Raleigh for six years and when we were finally ready (and able) to buy, we called Mark.

I had been stalking Mark's website for years and was nervous about including a Realtor® in our quest for a new house (having heard horror stories from friends about high pressure sales and getting stuck in contracts), I was pleasantly surprised. Mark is like a great neighbor who is there when you need him, but also (instinctively) knows when to back off. He helped not only find our new house but was instrumental in all aspects of the process, from inspectors to closing, to choosing security and a house painter.

My husband said at one point that he was glad to have someone like Mark looking out for our interest during this process. He was so thorough, I was glad he was on our team. When (and if) the time comes to sell, I will be calling Mark.

Mark is the antithesis of what my friends had experienced with their Realtors®... there are frankly not enough nice things to say, he is a heck of a guy!

Thanks again,

...All real estate agents are not the same. We interviewed several agents before we made a final decision. Mark's background and professional credentials were impressive and showed his vast experience in the business. His personal attributes were the deciding factor in choosing him to represent us over the other agents. Not only is Mark friendly, outgoing and professional, but he excels at listening to the customer.

We were especially impressed with the way Mark listened to both our wants and needs in a house, neighborhood and community. He was able to quickly narrow our search and find great properties for us to view...and we eventually bought the first house Mark showed us because it fit all of our requirements perfectly. Mark was beside us during the entire negotiation process with the seller and displayed his knack for persuasive bargaining. We firmly believe that Mark was able to get us the most house for our money.

We are really enjoying being in our new house and are so thankful. We are trying to get Mark's name out to our friends who are looking at upgrading from a townhouse to a house. You will be glad you chose him!

What were their considerations in purchasing new home construction?

When my wife and I began exploring real estate agents prior to our move from California, we were concerned about how we would find an agent we could trust to handle the complexities and timeliness of our cross country relocation. Although we had thoroughly researched the Research Triangle housing market, we needed an agent to work closely with us during the few weeks prior to our home-buying visit to Raleigh, as we would have only three and a half days in town.

Mark contacted us in response to an online information request we had completed. His refreshing genuineness, professionalism, and knowledge of the market caught our attention. There were plenty of agents who could guarantee a home for us in three days, but Mark's comment ("...finding the right home is what matters, even if it takes longer than expected") confirmed that he was the only agent we could trust to find the right home for us.

And he did. Our offer to purchase was accepted within hours of being submitted, a reflection of Mark's careful guidance and diligence during the preparation of our offer. It was quite a feeling of success to have accomplished so much in such a short period of time, and it would not have been possible without Mark's extraordinary efforts in finding the perfect home for us and for making our move such a pleasant and successful experience. IBM's relocation services were available to us, but we chose Mark. We look forward to referring our family members to Mark in the coming months.

In the end, Mark provides more than just real estate transactions - he suggests the right path to follow in buying your home, along with offering his friendship to continue beyond the closing date.

If anyone needs an agent, whether buying or selling, I do not hesitate to send them to Mark, because I know that he is not out there for himself - he is there to educate, negotiate, and ensure that his client knows exactly what is happening, and that they are in control during the whole process.

UPDATE: Well we got married this year in May, and moved up to my grandparent's farm here near Morgantown, WV. We rented the house you helped us buy for a little while...you were right, 2-5 years.

We've settled in nicely from our Key West, Florida relocation and I just wanted to drop you a line to let you know how things are going for us in our new home. After a month of being here, I can honestly say we made the right choice. I like the location more everyday, the house is perfect, and the builder has been checking in regularly. The job market here has also been quite kind to me and the job I decided to accept is less than 15 minutes away.

You went above and beyond the call of duty, and I couldn't be happier with the way things worked out. I recommended you to a friend who lives in Chapel Hill who will be buying a house in the next 6 months. He and his fiance haven't decided whether they will buy or build, but either way they'll need to buy something and will be getting in touch.

I hope business is going well; I'm sure it is. Thanks again!

I want to express how happy we were to work with Mark Wilson. He is just wonderful. Not only is he fun to work with (pretty darn important), he was very knowledgeable, informative and duly opinionated about the important things! He has perfected what makes an agent great. Aside from patience, approachability and knowledge of the market, his follow through and willingness to go above and beyond has made me a customer for life!

He has, by far, exceeded my expectations and outperformed all of the other Realtors we've worked with.
